The gift of temptation allows us to examine what our best path is, as opposed to the easiest path. Temptation invites us to do what is comfortable and familiar. It beckons us to rely on old maps that do not serve us in new territory. Our nation has been dangerously tested by the temptation of comfortable false narratives about the “exceptionalism” that denies our true past, and obscures our present. This season of spiritual turbulence reflects the turmoil at all levels of society. Let us examine the path that helps us bring the best of our energy and joy to a weary world.
