Google “the death of Sunday School” and within a second over a quarter million articles appear on your screen, all lamenting the end of an American Church institution. It seems our means for “religious education” have changed, and perhaps our ends have, too. Is Faith Formation what my colleague Tom Owen-Towle describes as “… our principle tilling ground, sacred ground, battleground, common ground, and growing ground?” Interim Minister Rev. Lisa Romantum Schwartz will explore the topic.
Join us this Sunday morning for our May worship series: "Nurturing Faith." Worship begins at 10 a.m. in person and on Zoom. To participate in worship on Zoom, please register here https://zoom.us/.../tJArf-CvrT4iHtIsgktTYAWotY75rmxi5V78.... If you've already registered (a one-time process), use the link you received via email to attend worship. Also during morning worship, we'll be recognizing our Youth Faith Formation leaders and volunteers, and announcing this year's recipient of the Bob Kernohan Award.
After worship, join us for coffee and treats in the Social Hall, and check out our Faith Formation classes for Adults and Youth from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The Reflections group hosts a conversation on the sermon topic every Sunday during the Faith Formation Hour in the conference room. All are welcome to join in. Nursery is available during that time.
Please note: Masks will NOT be required in the building this week, but we encourage everyone to do what makes them feel comfortable. (If Covid-19 Community Levels for Anderson or surrounding counties are High, masks will be required.)
All are welcome! We look forward to seeing you!
