Sunday Morning Worship: The Good News

  • Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike Oak Ridge, TN, 37830 United States (map)

This Sunday, join us for our December worship series, Presence. We welcome the Rev. Laura Bogle as our guest minister. She will share a sermon entitled, “The Good News.”

December is a liminal time, a time of transitions, and of being in-between—between the old year and the new; between the conception and the birth; between the light and the dark. In this season of transitions, it might be easy to be overwhelmed by looking back or looking forward. We certainly consume enough bad news to make us fret about past decisions and be anxious about the future. But December invites us to the present moment, tuning our hearts to a different frequency. What’s our good news?

Worship begins at 10 a.m. in person and on Zoom. For those attending worship by Zoom, please install the Zoom app on your device and use Zoom Worship Service Meeting ID: 946 8973 5846.

Our Split-the-Plate offering recipient for the month of December will go to the Free Medical Clinic. This non-profit organization offers free medical services to those who live in Anderson, Roane, and Morgan Counties, serving people who do not have insurance and cannot afford to pay for medical services due to their income level. Because it is a primarily volunteer organization, it relies on donations from individuals, churches, and community groups. This clinic provides medical care to those who have no other resources–it can literally mean the difference between life and death for some people. We all deserve adequate health care and to be treated with worth and dignity. Please GIVE HERE as you are willing and able, or text “ORUUC” to 73256.

After worship, join us for coffee and conversation in the Social Hall. Youth and Adult Faith Formation classes take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The nursery will be available during worship and the Faith Formation hour. Check out our regular Faith Formation opportunities for adults here: http://www.oruuc.org/faith-formation-for-adults and children and youth here: http://www.oruuc.org/religious-education.

Covid-19 Update: Masks are not required in the building; whether joining us for worship in person or on Zoom, we encourage everyone to do what makes them feel comfortable.

All are welcome! We look forward to seeing you!
