This Sunday, join us in person or on Zoom for our March worship series, Trust, as our Worship Associates Jane Flanagan and David Savoie lead worship today. David’s sermon is entitled, “Reclaiming Faith.”
Can we, a creedless, highly diverse, multi-faceted community, reclaim the word ‘faith’ in describing ourselves? As UU’s, we have no answers, only more questions.
Worship begins at 10 a.m. To join by Zoom, visit https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89079582989. Another option is to install the Zoom app on your device and choose, “Join Meeting,” then enter Meeting ID: 890 7958 2989.
The Split-the-Plate recipient for the month of March is Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC). ADFAC began in the mid 1980’s as a local ecumenical effort to provide assistance to impoverished families. As the broad needs of the low-income community became evident, the faith-based collaborative moved to become a 501(c)(3) public charity in January, 1987. Over the years, ADFAC has honored its roots developing a broad variety of programs designed to meet unfilled needs in the community and currently answers over 6,000 requests for assistance each year. ADFAC is the prime and preeminent social service agency in Oak Ridge and surrounding counties. Not only does ADFAC provide direct services to our needy community, it is also the clearing house for most other local social service agencies and churches. For more information, visit http://www.adfac.org. Please visit https://onrealm.org/oruuc/-/form/give/now to give as you are willing and able, or text “ORUUC” to 73256.
After the service, you're invited to join in coffee and conversation in the Social Hall. Youth and Adult Faith Formation classes take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Check out our regular Faith Formation opportunities for adults here: http://www.oruuc.org/faith-formation-for-adults and children and youth here: http://www.oruuc.org/religious-education. The nursery is available during worship and second hour.
This morning after worship, there will be an interest meeting for any adults who would like to attend the UUA’s General Assembly in Baltimore in June. Stop by the Social Hall to chat with some of the folks who have been to GA in the past and find out what it’s all about! Also at 11:15 today, there will also be a Parent Meeting in the Sanctuary for parents of youth attending General Assembly this summer. We will share the information and planning that has been done so far, as well as registration details. If you have a youth who is going but you cannot attend Sunday’s meeting, please contact Jason Fishel at solarmanj@gmail.com to receive the information digitally.
All are welcome! We look forward to seeing you!
